Position:                Roads Maintenance Worker

Department:          Lower Sioux Roads

Reports To:           BIA Roads Maintenance Director

Status:                   Non – Exempt

Salary Grade:        NBE

SUMMARY:

General and seasonal maintenance of all Lower Sioux Indian Community facilities and grounds, including but not limited to the Recreation Center, Tribal Government Building, Treatment/Services, and the Health Building.  Grounds keeping will include the property surrounding these buildings, as well as the Pow-Wow grounds, cemetery, water treatment plant, parks, ditches, and any and all community land not listed here.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Must perform all general maintenance tasks in a timely manner in accordance with an established schedule.
  2. General Maintenance duties may include but are not limited to: sweeping, emptying and cleaning trash containers, maintain and organize shop and equipment.
  3. Grounds keeping duties may include but are not limited to: trash pick-up, shoveling, snow blowing, mowing, sweeping sidewalks, raking, watering, trimming, sanding and salting.
  4. Ensures that all equipment/building fixtures are in working order (i.e. lawn mowers, snow blowers, clocks, lights, doors/windows, vents, community vehicles) and assists in repairs.
  5. Regular attendance necessary.
  6. Regular punctuality necessary.
  7. Available and willing to work any changes in hours on the schedule at any time during employment.
  8. All other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Must have a valid Minnesota Driver’s License and good driving record.
  2. Must be willing to obtain a CDL license.
  3. Must be in good physical condition to carry out the duties listed above.
  4. Must be dependable, willing to work odd hours and weekends at times (snow plowing).
  5. Must be able to lift 50lbs.
  6. Must be willing to work without supervision.
  7. Must pass drug test and take random drug testing.
  8. Knowledge of heavy maintenance equipment.
