The MN Attorney General’s Office is working with PIIC to host an Expungement Clinic for Tribal Members, employees and the general public. Date: September 24, 2024 Time: 10 A.M. – 5 P.M. Location: PIIC Community Center Gym CLINIC OVERVIEW: • Clinic assists with walk-thru of 2-Part application process to expunge misdemeanors, gross misdemeanors, and some felonies – List of 53 eligible crimes is attached. o All misdemeanor convictions will be eligible for expungement if the person has been discharged from probation for that crime and has not been convicted of a new crime for at least two years after the discharge date. o All gross misdemeanor convictions will be eligible for expungement if the person has been discharged from probation for that crime and has not been convicted of a new crime for at least three years after the discharge date. o There are 53 felonies under 609A.02 subd. 3(b), (attached)) that will be eligible for expungement if the person has been discharged from probation and has not been convicted of a new crime for at least four years after the discharge date. o Any felony deemed as a misdemeanor or gross misdemeanor will be eligible for expungement if the person has been discharged from probation and has not been convicted of a new crime for at least five years after the discharge date. • Court hearing and filing fees are waived. ($300) • Also, will help with voter registration and to remove dismissals – since they still show up on records and can impact housing or job consideration. • Clinic is derived of MN AG Office attorney’s, volunteers, legal secretaries, etc. o They do not provide legal counsel. REGISTRATION: • Attendees can pre-register for the clinic online via the QR code on event poster or AG office website. • Pre-registrants and walk-ins welcome. • If anyone can’t make the clinic there is an online option. APPLICANT REQUIRES: • Anyone who has a criminal record in MN. • Tribal, State, or legal ID. • AG’s office will notify State Reps & Tribes.
