JOB TITLE:               Recovery Peer Outreach Specialist

SUMMARY:

Commitment to sobriety and a healthy way of life (must have completed a minimum of 1 year sobriety upon hire) and provide resources to others by encouraging recovery and resilience.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Form and maintain a Recovery Community Organization, working towards certification by the Minnesota Alliance of Recovery Community Organizations (MARCO).
  • Facilitate peer support groups and individual sessions to encourage recovery and resilience.
  • Assist relatives in navigating available resources, including treatment options and community services.
  • Provide culturally specific support to relatives in need.
  • Maintain evening, weekend, and on-call hours to best serve relatives in the community.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop individualized recovery plans.
  • Conduct outreach to engage and educate the community about available behavioral health services.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of client interactions and progress.
  • Identify incarcerated relatives, as well as relatives planning reentry to the community, in need of recovery services and provide support
  • Regular attendance necessary.
  • Regular punctuality necessary.
  • Available and willing to work any changes in hours on the schedule at any time during employment.
  • Other duties as assigned

SKILLS KNOWLEDGE AND ATTRIBUTES:

  • Lived experience with substance use challenges and successful recovery
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build rapport with relatives.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a greater team
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends to better support relatives in need
  • Knowledge of local resources and services relevant to behavioral health.
  • Knowledge of Dakota beliefs and traditions and ability to implement Dakota teachings into recovery work
  • Certification in Peer Recovery or willingness to obtain within the first year of employment
  • Ability to pass background and driver’s license check
  • Able to pass a drug urinalysis test
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Time Management skills
