JOB TITLE: Farm Hand

REPORTS TO: Interim Hemp Farmer/Processor Coordinator
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
SUMMARY:
The Lower Sioux Indian Community is seeking a reliable, hardworking, and motivated Farm Hand to join our agricultural team. The ideal candidate will assist with various farming operations and demonstrate a willingness to learn, lead, and collaborate across departments. This role requires flexibility, mechanical skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team to support the farm’s mission and the broader goals of the community.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous experience in farming, equipment operation, or a related field is preferred but not required.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to repair and maintain equipment.
- Willingness to learn new skills and take on diverse responsibilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a team while also thriving in independent tasks.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Leadership skills or the potential to take on leadership roles when required.
- Physical stamina to perform manual labor in various weather conditions.
- Commitment to the values and mission of the Lower Sioux Indian Community.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operate and maintain farm equipment, including trucks and tractors, in a safe and efficient manner.
- Assist in washing and maintaining farming equipment to ensure optimal functionality and cleanliness.
- Perform equipment repairs and basic troubleshooting as needed.
- Collaborate with other departments to support community initiatives and activities.
- Follow directives to complete assigned tasks and meet project deadlines.
- Participate in training and demonstrate a willingness to learn new farming methods and practices.
- Take on leadership roles when needed to support farm operations and team goals.
- Perform assigned duties with minimal supervision and maintain productivity when working alone or as part of a team.
- Regular attendance necessary.
- Regular punctuality necessary.
- Available and willing to work any changes in hours on the schedule at any time during employment.
- Other duties as assigned
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This role requires working outdoors in various weather conditions, operating heavy machinery, and performing physically demanding tasks. Flexibility in schedule, including potential weekend or evening work, may be necessary.
